Then, you must know that how chemical ingredients in the store-bought makeup affects your skin badly. That’s why you go for a natural lifestyle, in which by using natural ingredients in your skincare regime makes your skin tone, texture, and glow improved day by day. This all halted the daily demand of wearing the foundation and you feel confident and comfortable in your own natural beauty.

But in order to make some of our facial features prominent and bigger like eyes. Eyelashes play a big role. It flatters your whole look and makes you alluring and elegant. For this, we don’t need to rely on commercial mascaras that are full of chemicals. As usage of commercial mascaras cause fall of eyelashes. After that, if you remove water proof mascara with water, rate of eyelash fall becomes higher. Instead, we can make our own homemade natural mascara, by combining simple natural ingredients.

Mascara induced loss of eyelashes has been evaluated in this study. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of mascara on eyelashes and to find an association between the usage of mascara and fall of eyelashes use of water for removal of waterproof mascara was associated with a higher incidence of eyelash fall.

Homemade Natural Mascara Recipe

This homemade natural mascara is beneficial for our eyelashes. It is not costly at all and made with non-toxic and 100% natural ingredients. So, their use on your eyelashes doesn’t affect your eyes.

Truly speaking, I was not successful in making my own DIY natural mascara in the first go. Rather, I have tried different ingredients in different proportions for the desired end result. And now I am sharing with you guys my simple homemade natural mascara recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel

  • 1/8 teaspoon bentonite clay

  • ¼ teaspoon black mineral powder

  • ¼ teaspoon vegetable glycerin

  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

  • ½ teaspoon beeswax (grated)

  • 3-4 drops rosemary essential oil

  • Small funnel

  • Clean mascara containers

Recipe

  1. In a double boiler, melt beeswax and coconut oil.
  2. Then, add bentonite clay, black mineral powder and aloe vera gel in it. Stir them well.
  3. Remove from the flame and add rosemary essential oil in it. Blend all the ingredients well till it forms a smooth mixture.
  4. Pour this mixture in the empty clean mascara container with a help of a small funnel.

How To Apply

Take a clean and dry mascara brush and dip it in the DIY mascara. Apply it on your clean eye lashes and curl them with the same brush or with the help of an eyelash curler. Apply another coat of the mascara, if you want to add more volume. But remember to dry out the first coat before re-applying.

Vegetable glycerin Vegetable glycerin is a humectant that makes eyelashes soft, shiny and helps in their growth. Due to its sticky nature, it helps the mascara in adhering to your eyelashes.
Coconut oil Coconut oil makes your eyelashes smooth, soft, and shiny. It boosts their growth. It is antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antifungal in nature which prevents the growth of microbes, bacteria, and fungus in the mascara.
Beeswax Beeswax thickens the mascara while it doesn’t hard on your eyelashes. It also prevents smearing or smudging of mascara.
Rosemary essential oil Rosemary essential oil gives a good scent to our DIY mascara. It promotes the growth of eyelashes, as it helps in our hair growth.

Precautions

  • Use dry containers for storage: Always use dry and clean containers for DIY eyelash mascara storage.

  • Airtight containers should be used: Airtight containers are used for storing homemade mascara, otherwise, it will dry out very soon.

  • Every time you use a clean mascara brush: A clean mascara brush is always used for application purposes.

  • Make small batches: Make small batches of mascara as it doesn’t contain any preservatives.

  • Discard smelly DIY mascara: Discard the DIY mascara, if you feel it smells bad. This might be due to the growth of microbes.

Homemade eyelash mascaras are beneficial for eyelash health. They have non-toxic ingredients which don’t harm sensitive eyes, that mostly got irritated and red with the store-bought mascaras. Instead, you can safely use these DIY mascaras on a regular basis and make some batches of them for your friends.
